AUSTIN, Texas – Arkansas Tech University senior quarterback Ty Reasnor headlines the 2017 Academic All-America® Division II Football Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Cashion, Oklahoma, Reasnor is the recipient of the Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II football.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

A mechanical engineering major with a spotless 4.00 GPA, Reasnor helped the Wonder Boys compile an 8-4 overall record and earn a spot in the 2017 Agent Barry Live United Bowl. Reasnor threw for 2,483 yards in 12 games. His 21 passing touchdowns were third in the Great American Conference this season. Reasnor rushed for 377 yards and eight touchdowns to rank fourth in total offense in the GAC.

Reasnor and his Arkansas Tech teammates led the Great American in scoring with 39.8 points per game. He completed 14-of-19 passes for 264 yards and four touchdowns in a victory over Oklahoma Baptist University. In a triumph over East Central Oklahoma, Reasnor had 288 passing yards and three TD connections thanks to a 24-of-35 night. He rushed for two touchdowns each against Henderson State and Arkansas-Monticello.

The 26 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II football first team members hold a composite 3.89 GPA. Eight first team honorees hold a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. Thirteen CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II football selections are repeat picks from the 2016 honor squads with 10 of the veterans making the 2017 first team.

The six CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team offensive linemen are all repeat performers, led by four-time choice Ryan Michaels (Mercyhurst University) and three-time choices Devon Ackerman (East Stroudsburg University), and Corbin Feenstra (Colorado State University-Pueblo). The aforementioned trio is joined by veteran offensive line mates Sam Hall (Newberry College), Colin Peter (Colorado School of Mines) and Dillon Vaughan (West Texas A&M University).

In addition to the six offensive linemen, wide receiver Cory Contini (Ohio Dominican University), place kicker Carter McCauley (Winona State University), linebacker Kirby Hora (Augustana (S.D.) University) and defensive back Marcus Houghton (Emporia State University) make the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team after receiving either first or second team distinction in 2016. McCauley joins Ackerman, Feenstra and Michaels as a three-time Academic All-America® selection.

Three CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II football second team members were mentioned on one of the two 2016 squads. Leading this trio is defensive lineman Marcus Martin (Slippery Rock University), who is a three-time Academic All-America® choice. Place kicker Will Brazill (California University of Pennsylvania) and defensive lineman Myles Humphrey (Shepherd University) were voted to the Academic All-America® second team for the second consecutive year.

Second team Academic All-America® punter Christopher Birozes (Wingate University) is also a veteran, as he made the second team in 2015. Birozes returned to the field this season after a liver transplant caused him to miss the 2016 season.
