AUSTIN, Texas – United States Naval Academy senior midfielder
Meghan Hegarty highlights the 2017 Academic All-America® Division I Women's soccer teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A now three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection, Hegarty caps off her career by headlining the first team, after earning second team honors in 2016 and third team honors in 2015. A senior operations research major with a 3.97 GPA, Hegarty was named the 2017 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year. She closed out her final season with the Midshipmen scoring two goals and four assists. Hegarty is a three-time All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League team selection.
Thirty of the 33 members of the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I women’s soccer teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with 19 student-athletes sporting a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.96.
Along with Hegarty, the Academic All-America® Division I Women’s Soccer teams have four other repeat performers –
Alyssa Heintschel (Ball State University),
Bianca St. Georges (West Virginia University),
Imani Dorsey (Duke University) and
Kendall Ham (Bucknell University) – from last year’s CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams.
