AUSTIN, Texas – Western Oregon University junior Dustin Nading and Western State Colorado University senior Alicja Konieczek headline the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Men’s and Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Nading is a three-time national champion, while also finishing as a runner-up to one of his teammates at another national championship event during his junior year. He pulled away during the final lap to claim the 2018 NCAA Division II Indoor Track Championship title in the mile with a time of 4:13.30. The native of Longview, Washington, also helped Western Oregon defend its distance medley relay at the same event, claiming his second national title in the event with a time of 9:41.40 in a photo finish.
 
The recipient of the Google Cloud Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II men’s track & field/cross country, Nading is making his first appearance on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II Track & Field/Cross Country Team with a 3.88 GPA as an exercise science major. The 2018 U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association All-West Region honoree also finished as a runner-up at the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track Championship in the 1,500 meters to his teammate, David Ribich, posting a time of 3:45.57, to help Western Oregon finish the event in 13th place as a team.
 
The 19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II men’s track & field/cross country first team members hold a composite 3.88 GPA. Ten members of the 45-player first, second and third teams honorees hold a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. Eleven CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II men’s track/cross country selections are repeat picks from the 2016-17 honor listing, including eight student-athletes making the 2017-18 first team, two selections to the second team and one represented on this year’s third team. The repeat performers from the men’s team include Augustana (S.D.) University’s Josh Barrows, Lawson Belcher of Harding University, University of Mount Olive’s Jonathan Dahlke, Haregot Gebreyesus of Benedict College, Harding University’s Lucas Goodspeed, Austin Hogan of the University of Indianapolis, Wayne State College’s Derek Lahm, Daniel Neiswender of Bloomsburg University, Carson-Newman University’s Tanner Stepp, Zach Tuschen of Augustana and Colorado State University – Pueblo’s Derrick Williams.
 
Konieczek, a native of Zbaszyn, Poland, is a two-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year recipient, who holds a 3.85 GPA as an exercise and sports science major. She is making her second-straight appearance on the Academic All-America® Division II Track/Cross Country Team after earning second-team honors last year.
 
The recipient of the Google Cloud Academic All-America® of the Year award for Division II women’s track & field/cross country, Konieczek claimed three individual NCAA Division II national titles during the 2017-18 year and was part of the indoor women’s distance medley national title winning group to give her eight career national titles (indoor mile – 4:48.33; indoor 3,000 meters – 9:29.39; indoor distance medley – 11:19.98; outdoor steeplechase – 9:47.72). Her national championship steeplechase time set a new Division II record and Championship Meet record. She has earned 12 All-America honors during her career and was named the Division II National Track Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA last year.
 
The 15 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division II women’s track & field/cross country first team members hold a composite 3.94 GPA. Nineteen members of the 45-player first, second and third teams honorees hold a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA. Ten Google Cloud  Academic All-America® Division II women’s track & field/cross country selections are repeat picks from the 2016-17 honor listing, including five student-athletes making the 2017-18 first team, two selections to the second team and three represented on this year’s third team. Along with Konieczek, the nine other repeat performers from the women’s team include Walsh University’s Kaitlyn Barber and Sarah Berger, California University of Pennsylvania’s Julie Friend and Summer Hill, Valerie Griesche of Wingate University, Saint Augustine's University’s Shakera Hall, Saint Leo University’s Colett Rampf, Eileen Stressling of Azusa Pacific University and University of Minnesota Duluth’s Emi Trost. Northern State University’s Sasha Hovind is a repeat Academic All-America first team honoree after being named to the first team in 2015-16.
