Dr. Todd Olsen was inducted into the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Hall of Fame in 2012.

From athlete, to coach and professor, to hands-on advocate for world health, soccer has played a major part in every facet of Dr. Todd Olsen's life. Team captain and four-year letter winner at Slippery Rock, Dr. Olsen was honored with Academic All-America® status his junior and senior years, before graduating magna cum laude with a 4.0 GPA in 1985. He went on to learn a master's degree in public health and a Ph.D in epidemiology, and for the past 18 years has served Lynchburg College as a professor and head women's soccer coach. Dr. Olsen has coached the Hornets -- which include several Academic All-America® Team Members -- to a staggering 294-79-36 record, with 10 trips to the NCAA Tournament in 12 years.

Besides victories on the field, Dr. Olsen has also led his team on goodwill service trips to Argentina, Costa Rica, Kenya, and Uganda, where they have used soccer as a way to connect with local communities. As community Public Health Epidemiologist for the Sports Outreach Institute, Dr. Olsen conducted public health training workshops in areas like the Gulu District, an area of Uganda that has been plagued by civil unrest for decades. On a trip there, he and the women of his soccer team also helped build two much-needed wells, using funds contributed by the Lynchburg community.
