A two-time Academic All-America® honoree, Dr. Julie Bremner Romias began her volleyball career at Notre Dame in 1988, and was on the U.S. National Team in 1989 and 1990. At UCLA, she was the starting setter who led the Bruins to the 1991 NCAA women’s volleyball championship, and to the runner-up slot in 1992. She was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year in 1993, and in 1997 was chosen as one of the 25 greatest women’s volleyball players in UCLA history.

While attending UCLA Medical School, Dr. Bremner Romias volunteered at a family clinic and became a victim’s rights advocate, speaking up for athletes abused by their coaches—all while training with a professional beach volleyball team. At the time of her induction, she was a medical doctor at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center. She has won numerous national awards for quality diabetes, cardiovascular and stroke care, and continued to play beach volleyball for the AVP tour.
