Dylann Duncan Ceriani was inducted into the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Hall of Fame in 2004.
Dylann Duncan Ceriani was a four-year starter and volleyball standout at Brigham Young University from 1985 to 1988. At the conclusion of her career, Duncan Ceriani held school records for kills (2,188), aces (233), block assists (733) and total blocks (881).
Duncan Ceriani helped lead BYU to a No. 1 ranking in 1986 and a combined 134-29 record during her four seasons. She finished her career with 2,188 kills, which was at the time the NCAA record for all divisions. That year, Duncan Ceriani was among a handful of athletes honored by the NCAA with its prestigious Top Six Award.
Duncan Ceriani was named first-team all-conference each of her four years. She left BYU having earned First Team All-HCAC three-times and HCAC Player of the Year in 1988. An impressive athlete and overall team player, she is recognized as one of the best volleyball players in NCAA history.
Duncan Ceriani earned a bachelor of sciences degree in electrical and computer engineering at BYU. She went on to earn a master’s degree in biomechanical engineering from UC Berkeley.
Duncan Ceriani played with the United States “B” Team at the World Student University Games and also was a member of the U.S. National Team that played at the World Cup in Spain. She played professional volleyball in Switzerland and for the San Jose Storm.
After leaving the court, Duncan Ceriani went into a career in mechanical design. She worked at Children’s Hospital of San Diego and holds patents from her work at DJ Orthopedics. Currently, she is an engineer at Breg Inc., where she develops operative and functional bracing.
Duncan Ceriani resides in San Diego with her husband, Geoff, and their five children.
