Susan Cassidy-Lyke was inducted into the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Hall of Fame in 2002. 

Susan Cassidy-Lyke is a lifelong Molloy College Lion. Not only did she attend the Rockville Center, N.Y,. university from 1982-1986, she also has served as the athletic director and women’s softball coach at her alma mater since 2006.

Cassidy-Lyke, a native of nearby Hicksville, N.Y., was a standout two-sport athlete while at Molloy, playing both softball and basketball for the Lions. She graduated summa cum laude in 1986 with a degree in business management and a minor in mathematics. Cassidy-Lyke continued her education at John Jay College, where she earned her master’s degree in criminal justice in 1990.

Cassidy-Lyke returned to Hicksville after finishing graduate school and began her coaching career at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School. She was a three-sport coach, guiding the women’s volleyball, basketball and soccer teams during her 15-year tenure. The softball team won nine league and four New York State titles with Cassidy-Lyke at the helm. She boasts a 285-87 overall record as a high school softball coach.

Cassidy-Lyke has received many honors throughout her athletic career for her work both on the field and from the sidelines. She was inducted into the Molloy College Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Verizon Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 2002. In recognition of her achievements from the sidelines, Cassidy-Lyke was named NYSCHGAA Softball Coach of the Year four times, the inaugural Nassau County Coach of the Year in 1995, and Newsday’s Nassau County Coach of the Year in 2003. She was inducted into the Holy Trinity Hall of Fame in 2006.

Before taking her current position as Athletic Director and softball coach at Molloy, Cassidy-Lyke was the head women’s volleyball coach at Long Island University-C.W. Post and has been the assistant coach of the Long Island Women’s Open Softball Team at the Empire State Games since 1995.

In addition to her coaching career, Cassidy-Lyke is also involved in public service. She joined the New York City Police Academy in 1986 and was elevated to sergeant in 1989. Cassidy-Lyke became a lieutenant in 1997 and was then promoted to police captain in 2003. She still resides in Hicksville with her husband, John.
