Jeannie Henningsen was inducted into the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Hall of Fame in 1999. 

Jeannie Henningsen (formerly Jeannie Demers) is a former Buena Vista women's basketball standout. Henningsen held numerous records for points scored, including a dynamic freshmen year with 645 points and a senior season that saw her score the most points in a single season (891). That year she averaged 34.3 points per game.

Henningsen held the impressive title of the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division III history with 3,171 career points, 370 points more than any other player in the league. In Henningsen’s career she was never below double figures in scoring, and she had 58 games of 30 points or more. 

In addition to basketball she played softball at Buena Vista. While playing in the 1984 national softball championship she drove in the winning run.

Along with Henningsen’s outstanding athletic achievements, she graduated with a 4.0 GPA as an elementary education major. She went on to become a third grade teacher in Alta, Iowa and serve as head volleyball coach at Alta High School.
