AUSTIN, Texas – University of Oregon junior quarterback Justin Herbert headlines the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I football team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Hebert was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division I football.
A biology major with a 4.06 GPA, Herbert ranks third in the Pac-12 and 10th in the nation with 28 passing touchdowns this season, and has thrown at least one passing touchdown in 27 consecutive games – the longest active streak in the country.
A two-time Google Cloud first team Academic All-America® honoree, Herbert has completed 221 out of 371 passing attempts for 2,985 yards with 28 touchdowns and just eight interceptions in 2018.
A native of Eugene, Oregon, Herbert was named a semifinalist for both the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award and Maxwell Award.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Football Team features 17 members with a 4.0 GPA and 34 members with at least a 3.90 GPA as either undergraduate or graduate student-athletes. The 26 members on the first team have an average GPA of 3.95.
In addition to Herbert, the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Football Team has 17 repeat selections including three-time picks Tucker Yinger (Univeristy of Dayton), Greg Menard (North Dakota State University), and David Leisring (University of Dayton). The list also includes Marcus Weymiller (University of Northern Iowa), Britton Abbott (Oklahoma State University), Wes Genant (South Dakota State University), Max Scharping (Northern Illinois University), Kyle Reisert (University of New Hampshire), Kenneth Brinson (United States Military Academy), Dalton Cox (South Dakota State University), Adam Wollet (Robert Morris University), Jordan Fuller (Ohio State University), Justice Hill (Oklahoma State University), Cole Chewins (Michigan State University), Anthony Nelson (University of Iowa), Alex White (Harvard University) and Drue Tranquill (University of Notre Dame) – from the 2017 and 2016 teams.
