AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Gary Shorrow of Point University headlines the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA men's soccer teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 NAIA Goggle Cloud Academic All-America® teams.
 
Sharrow takes home the top honor this year and served as team co-captain and was one of three Skyhawks to make the All-Appalachian Athletic Conference first team for a Point team that went 16-2-1.
 
Sharrow, who holds a 4.0 GPA in business administration and accounting, started all 19 of Point’s matches in 2018 and finished with two goals and one assist while playing on the defensive side of the ball. He finished his career by starting in 65 of the 73 matches he appeared in and totaled six goals and 13 assists in four seasons.
 
Connor Tupper (Northwestern College), Spencer Aeschliman (Goshen College) and Simone Raiola (Grand View University) were all repeat selections to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® first team from 2017. Tupper has a 3.95 GPA as an exercise major, while Aeschliman has a 3.93 GPA in physics and Raiola has a 3.93 GPA in accounting/BSAD. Indiana Institute of Technology’s Ruben Leonardo moved up to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® first team after being named to the second team in 2017, while Baker University’s Austin Halsey was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® second team after being a first team honoree a year ago. Leonardo has a 3.97 GPA as a business administration/management major, while Halsey has a 3.98 GPA in accounting and business management.
 
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® first team had one 4.0 GPA and as a group, they averaged a 3.90 GPA.
