AUSTIN, Texas – Dakota Wesleyan University senior outside hitter Rebecca Frick headlines the Academic All-America® NAIA volleyball team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.

Frick was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA volleyball. The Yankton, South Dakota, native is the first Tiger volleyball player to ever be named to the Academic All-America® NAIA volleyball team and is one of seven student-athletes to land on this year’s first team.

An All-Great Plains Athletic Conference first-team selection in 2019, Frick became the ninth player in program history to be named to the first team. She led the team with 4.62 kills per set and 540 total kills this season. Both marks led the GPAC in 2019 and ranked seventh in the NAIA. Frick completed her career with 1,750 career kills and 1,465 career digs, which rank second and eighth in DWU history, respectively.

In addition to her success on the court, Frick has excelled in the classroom as she finished the year with a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a biology major. She is one of five first-team honorees with a 4.0 GPA while the other two, Audrey Baldwin (Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) University) and Alexa Hill (Grace College) - both repeat first-team selections - have a 3.94 GPA and 3.99 GPA, respectively.

The first team is comprised of six seniors and one junior compiled a 3.99 GPA, while Embry-Riddle was the only program to have two student-athletes named to the team.
