AUSTIN, Texas – Senior
Nate Foddrill of Spring Arbor University headlines the 2019 Academic All-America® NAIA men's soccer teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.
Foddrill was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA men’s soccer.
Foddrill has led the No. 11-seeded Cougars to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship after a 4-0 win over Grand View University in the opening round. The Crossroads League Midfielder of the Year is an Actuarial Science major with a 4.0 GPA.
The senior from DeWitt, Michigan, heads into the Round of 16 at the national tourney having started in 18 matches this season and is part of a team that was one of the best defensive units in the country having only allowed a total of 15 goals.
Foddrell is one of three CoSIDA Academic All-America® repeat selections from 2018 as he and Morningside College’s
Pascal Kutschera each earned first team honors while
Hunter Gibbons (Spring Arbor) repeated on the second team.
The first team had three 4.0 GPA’s and as a group, they averaged a 3.93 GPA.
