AUSTIN, Texas – Western Michigan University senior midfielder Anthony Bowie headlines the 2019 Academic All-America® Division I Men’s Soccer teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Bowie has been named the 2019 Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division I men’s soccer.
 
A sales & business marketing major from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bowie becomes a two-time Academic All-America selection after also earning first team honors in 2018. Carrying a 4.0 GPA, Bowie scored a career-high six goals on the season, to go along with three assists. This season he was named to the Mid-American Conference Second Team and was twice named the MAC Player of the Week.
 
Of the 34 members on the Academic All-America® Division I men’s soccer teams, 11 boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.96, with the entire men’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.92
 
Ten others join Bowie as repeat selections on Academic All-America® Division I Men’s Soccer teams from 2018 - Austin Day (Grand Canyon University), David Grana (Saint Joseph's University), Dylan Waugaman (Valparaiso University), Gideon Betz (Campbell University), Jack Casey (University of Notre Dame), Kyle Hiebert (Missouri State University), Marius Kullmann (Loyola University), Michael Creek (Missouri State University), Rikard Lindqvist (Northern Kentucky), and Tyrone Mondi (Coastal Carolina University). Additionally, Casey and Hiebert were named to the 2017 Academic All-America® teams.
