Allie Barber of Marquette Leads 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® NCAA Division I Volleyball Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Marquette University senior outside hitter Allie Barber headlines the 2019 Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Barber has been named the 2019 Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division I volleyball.
 
A biomedical sciences major with a 3.98 GPA from Cedarburg, Wis., Barber becomes a two-time Academic All-America selection after also earning first team honors in 2018. Barber was named the BIG EAST Player of the Year for the second time, also earning the honor in 2017, and helped guide Marquette to its ninth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
Barber led the league all season with 4.61 kills per set all matches, 4.52 kills in BIG EAST matches and was fourth, hitting at a .313 clip. She was second in points per set tallying 4.78 and became Marquette's all-time kills leader in her final season. She was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on six occasions and is just the fourth player in 30 years to repeat as BIG EAST Player of the Year.
 
Of the 21 members on the Academic All-America® Division I volleyball team, 12 boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. The seven members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97.
 
Three others join Barber as repeat selections on Academic All-America® Division I volleyball team from 2018 – Madison Green (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi), Samantha McLean (Michigan State University) and Morgan Hash (Georgia State University).
