AUSTIN, Texas – Jimmy Aschenbrenner from Morningside College and Christina Klouda from University of the Cumberlands headline the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s and Women’s At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams.
 
The at-large program for the Google Cloud Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
 
Aschenbrenner was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the year for the NAIA men’s at-large team, while Klouda was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA women’s at-large team.
 
Aschenbrenner, a senior men’s volleyball player from Westminster, Colorado, boasts of a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average majoring in biology and chemistry. The Mustang middle hitter finished second on the team in kills (176) and blocks (39). Aschenbrenner registered a .248 hitting percentage and logged a career-high 93 digs. He also served up 18 aces and recorded 13 assists. Aschenbrenner posted 10 or more kills in a match seven times, notching a season-high 15 kills against Dordt College Feb. 13. He earned all-conference honors for his efforts.
 
Joining Aschenbrenner on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s At-Large Team as repeat selections are tennis player Juan Alejandro Jimenez of McPherson College and volleyball Bobby Ying of Robert Morris University. All three earned second-team honors last year.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s At-Large Team produced an average GPA of 3.94 with the first team combining for an average GPA of 3.95. The team includes five student-athletes with 4.0 GPA and one graduate student.
 
A senior biology and chemistry major from Knoxville, Tennessee, Klouda carries a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Not only is she a repeat first-team honoree, but Klouda is also a repeat Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year award winner.
 
The Patriot swimmer is a four-time Mid-South Conference Swimmer of the Year and the first swimmer in conference history to win 12 individual conference titles. This year, Klouda captured a pair of NAIA national titles, winning the 200 backstroke (2:02.26) as well as being a member of Cumberlands’ 400 medley relay (3:48.58). She also finished runner-up in the 200 IM and was a seven-time NAIA All-American. The MSC named Klouda the 2018-19 Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
 
Joining Klouda on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Women’s At-Large Team as repeat selections are lacrosse player Jessica Banks of Indiana Institute of Technology, tennis player Katherine Golka of College of St. Mary, tennis player Zoe Bouwmeester of McPherson College, golfer Breanna Nowak of Indiana University East, and swimmer Maddy Kelly of College of Idaho as repeat honorees. Klouda, Banks, Bouwmeester, and Nowak were all on the first team in 2018, while Golka and Kelly picked up second-team honors last year.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA Women’s At-Large Team produced an average GPA of 3.93 with the first team combining for an average GPA of 3.99. The team includes 11 student-athletes with 4.0 GPA or higher.
