AUSTIN, Texas – Junior swimmer Bebe Wang of Denison and senior tennis student-athlete Lauren O’Malley of John Carroll headline the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
A mathematics and physics double-major from Naperville, Illinois, with a 3.96 grade-point average, Wang was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Men’s At-Large Team Member of the Year. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® Women’s At-Large Team Member of the Year, O’Malley is an early childhood education major with a 4.0 G.P.A. from Westlake, Ohio.
 
Wang helped lead the Big Red to their second consecutive NCAA Division III national championship in March. He won the national title in the 200-yard individual medley and was a member of the team’s first-place 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays. He is now a five-time national champion and an 11-time All-American.
 
A four-time Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player of the Year, O’Malley qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship all four seasons and is a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American. She advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals in 2019 with a 34-3 singles record, including a 20-1 mark at No. 1. O’Malley earned the 2019 NCAA Elite 90 Award and ended her career with a 111-10 record in singles competition (70-37 in doubles play).
 
Among the 95 student-athletes selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III At-Large teams, 14 men and 19 women carry a 4.0 grade-point average or better. The 16 members of the men’s at-large first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.88, while the 15 members of the women’s at-large team carry an eye-opening 3.99 average G.P.A.
 
Nine men and 13 women are repeat Academic All-America® selections. Only one, Worcester Polytechnic Institute swimmer Jack Bauer, is a three-time honoree. Bauer reached first-team for the second time straight year and was third-team in 2017.
 
Other men’s student-athletes to repeat as CoSIDA Academic All-America® honorees: first-teamers Bouke Edskes (MIT, swimming), Cam Isaac (RIT, lacrosse) and Bernardo Neves (Washington University in St. Louis, tennis) repeated their first-team honors; first-teamers Jake Ashcraft (Ithaca, wrestling) and Emile Kuyl (John Hopkins, swimming) were second-team honorees last year; first-teamer Carter Lyons (Nebraska Wesleyan, swimming) achieved third-team distinction last year; Tyler Barr (MIT, tennis) repeated last year’s second-team honor; and J.C. Grabarek (Illinois Wesleyan, lacrosse) earned third-team honors for the second consecutive year.

The Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America® teams.
