AUSTIN, Texas – Seniors Samantha Liermann and Josiah McAllister of Concordia (Neb.) University headline the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Track & Field/Cross Country Teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams.

Liermann was named the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA women’s track & field/cross country for the second consecutive year, while McAllister was the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for the men.

Liermann wrapped up an illustrious career for a storied Concordia track & field program as she claimed her third NAIA national title in the shot put in Gulf Shores, Alabama in late May. That feat finished off her four years in a Bulldog uniform with 10 All-American honors – eight alone in shot put - in addition to the four Great Plains Athletic Conference titles. Liermann, who also finished as runner up twice at nationals in the shot put, also was a member of the 2016 squad that won the NAIA Outdoor National Championship.

Liermann, who posted a 3.99 grade-point average as a recreation & sports studies and business administration major, was named to the All-GPAC team 14 times and is the school record holder – indoor and outdoor – in the shot put. Liermann has also been named NAIA Scholar-Athlete twice.

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country team saw four individuals finish with at least a 4.0 GPA, while the team compiled a 3.97 cumulative GPA.

McAllister joined his fellow Bulldog in taking the top honor on the men’s side thanks to a standout four-year career. This past season, McAllister helped the 4x400 meter relay take home the GPAC championship while also claiming the individual title in the 1,000-meter race. McAllister, who has competed five times at an NAIA national championship, has been named an NAIA All-American – twice in the 4x800 and once in the 1,000. The two-time GPAC champion has been named to the All-GPAC team 18 times in his career. McAllister, who was a three-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® first team in 2018.

In the classroom, McAllister posted a 4.0 GPA in pre-medicine and he was one of four men on the first team to have a perfect GPA. Altogether, the 10 members of the first team averaged a 3.96 GPA.
