AUSTIN, TexasGlen McClain from the Indiana Institute of Technology topped the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Baseball Team as awarded by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
McClain joined an exclusive club by becoming a two-time Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA Baseball. He reeled in the honor in 2017 and has been named to the Google Academic All-America® team for a third time.
 
McClain’s other academic accolades include being named to the Academic Google Cloud All-District® team and the Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete three times and to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference All-Academic Team twice. McClain, from Fremont, Indiana, held a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average as an undergraduate and sports a 3.93 GPA as pursuing his master’s in business administration.
 
McClain repeated as the WHAC Player of the Year while leading the Warriors to their first NAIA World Series appearance since 2003 and fourth consecutive 40-win campaign. McClain garnered two All-American honors, two first-team all-conference nods and two conference Gold Glove awards. McClain switched to catcher this year after manning first base previously.
 
McClain carried a .428 average with 20 doubles, one triple, 18 home runs and 57 RBI this year as a senior. He rates in the top 10 statistically among the NAIA in hits (89), slugging percentage (.793), total bases (165) and average total bases (2.80 per game) this season. His Indiana Tech career numbers are a .413 average, 343 hits, 62 doubles, 14 triples, 40 homers and 215 RBI.
 
There were two other members of the 2019 Academic All-America® NAIA Baseball Team to collect repeat honors. Daniel Neal from Union (Ky.) College and Troy Puga of Friends University each made the squad for the second consecutive year.
 
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® NAIA Baseball Team turned in an average GPA of 3.83, with the first team posting for an average GPA of 3.84. The team includes four student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA.
