AUSTIN, Texas – Olivet Nazarene University senior forward
Nic Reed highlights the 2019-20 Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s Basketball Team recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 NAIA Academic All-America® teams program.
Reed was selected the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA men’s basketball.
Reed, from New Albany, Indiana, boasts of a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average majoring in economics/finance. Reed owns two first-team Academic All-America® accolades. He has been honored for his academic success as an NAIA scholar-athlete, two-time Academic All-District and two-time Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference all-academic team.
Reed collected his second CCAC Player of the Year award and fourth first-team all-conference honor after a dominant senior year. Reed led the conference in points per game, during a campaign in which he became the Tigers’ all-time leading scorer. As a three-time CCAC Player of the Week this season, Reed produces 22.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game with a 56.9 percent field-goal percentage and 46.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Olivet Nazarene meets Lincoln (Ill.) College in the first round of the NAIA Division II National Championship Thursday (March 12).
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s Basketball Team featured two repeat selections -
Zach Imig from Morningside College and
Charlie Warner of Grace College. Both were named to the second team in 2018-19.
Two CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA men’s basketball honorees own a 4.0 GPA. The average GPA for the five first teamers is 3.898, while the 10 members of the men’s team have a 3.761 average GPA.
