AUSTIN, Texas – Sophomore track and field performer Joanna Archer of Monroe College headlines the 2020 Academic All-America® College Division Women’s At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Archer was selected as the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for College Division women’s at-large.
 
The college division includes two-year institutions, Canadian institutions and any United States four-year institutions that are not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA.
 
Despite the cancellation of spring competition during COVID-19, CoSIDA continued its sponsorship of the Academic All-America awards program. Student-athletes were selected based on career statistics.
  
Archer, a sophomore from West Bank Demerara, Guyana, was a six-time NJCAA National Champion. She captured the 4x800-meter relay at the 2020 indoor event, while capturing the 800 and 4x800 relay titles at the 2019 outdoor championship. She also won titles at the 2019 indoor championship in the 800, 4x800 relay and the distance medley relay events. She also was named NJCAA All-American seven times, including three each in the 800 and 4x800 relay as well as the DMR. Archer was also named an All-American eight times by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association.
 
Archer, who has a 3.90 GPA as a criminal justice major, was named to the 2019 NJCAA All-Academic second team. She was named twice as the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Female Track Athlete of the Year (2020 indoor, 2019 outdoor). Archer earned the silver medal at the 2019 Carifta Games in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
 
The 10 members of the first team had an average GPA of 3.85 as three student-athletes had a perfect 4.0 GPA.
