AUSTIN, Texas – Washburn University senior libero Faith Rottinghaus is the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NCAA Division II volleyball, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.

The Berryton, Kansas, native is one of seven student-athletes on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team.

Rottinghaus holds a spotless 4.00 cumulative grade-point average with her kinesiology major. Statistically, the three-time first team Academic All-America® selection was first in the NCAA with her 833 digs. She was third in digs per set with 6.56. Rottinghaus led the Ichabods with her 33 service aces, helping Washburn advance to the NCAA Division II national championship match.

On the court, Rottinghaus was named a D2CCA All-America first team selection and an AVCA All-American second team choice following her senior campaign. For her career, she has three All-MIAA first team honors. Rottinghaus is a five-time MIAA Academic Excellence award winner. She is also the program’s all-time career leader in digs with 2,676.

The seven members of the Academic All-America® Division II volleyball first team have an aggregate undergraduate GPA of 3.93. Nineteen of the 21 Academic All-America® selections played in this year’s NCAA Division II playoffs, including Elite 90 winner Rottinghaus and five other first team members.

Eight members of the Academic All-America® Division II volleyball teams are repeat picks. Rottinghaus and second team choice Alexis Cardoza of Cal State San Bernardino are both three-time honorees. Cardoza made the second team twice (2021, 2019) and landed on the 2020 first team.

In addition to Rottinghaus, three other first team members are repeat choices. Laura De Marchi of Michigan Tech makes the first team for the second season in a row. Both Megan Flom of Winona State University and Jamie Poppen of Lewis University leaped from the third team last year to the first team this fall.

Cardoza leads four second team members who repeat as Academic All-America® selections. Both Audrey Fisher of Central Missouri University and Lindsey Jin of Colorado School of Mines make the second team in back-to-back seasons. Ashley Beyers of Gannon University rose from the 2020 third team to the second team this fall.
