Kyle Mangas highlights the 2020-21 Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s Basketball Team recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 NAIA Academic All-America® teams program.
Mangas was selected the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NAIA men’s basketball.
Mangas headlined the 11 student-athletes comprising the CoSIDA NAIA Men’s Basketball Academic All-America® Team. Mangas, originally from Warsaw, Indiana, owns a 3.70 cumulative grade-point average as a finance major. Mangas garnered recognition for his academic prowess as a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America®, Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete and Crossroads League academic all-conference.
Mangas became two-time NAIA Player of the Year, four-time NAIA All-American, 2020 Bevo Francis Award winner, four-time Crossroads League Player of the Year, 2018 NAIA Division II Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player and five-time national player of the week. He led Indiana Wesleyan to four conference regular-season championships, three Crossroad League Tournament titles and the 2018 NAIA Division II National Championship.
Mangas produced an NAIA-leading 29.5 points per game while averaging 7.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.88 steals per game in 2020-21. His career numbers include 3,453 points, 818 rebounds, 544 assists and 211 steals. He took over as Indiana Wesleyan’s all-time leading scorer on Feb. 29, 2020.
The 2020-21 CoSIDA NAIA Men’s Basketball Academic All-America® team includes three-time Academic All-America® selection
Zach Imig of Morningside College and two-time honorees Mangas and
Maxwell McCullough from Eastern Oregon University.
Three members of the CoSIDA Academic All-America® team boast of 4.0 cumulative GPAs. The average GPA among the six first-teamers was 3.90, and the 11 recipients have an average GPA of 3.87.
