AUSTIN, Texas – Simpson’s Jenna Taylor headlines the Academic All-America® NCAA Division III women's basketball teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Wednesday.

Taylor has been named as the Academic All-America® of the Year for women’s basketball.

Taylor, an accounting/economics and finance double major, hails from Creston, Iowa. She is the lone multiple Academic All-America® on the list this season after earning second team accolades in 2018-19.

A 4.0 student, Taylor is a four-time American Rivers Conference honoree and was named as an All-America this year by both D3hoops.com and the WBCA. She also was named as the WBCA West Region Player of the Year and the ARC Most Valuable Performer.

One school — Illinois Wesleyan — is represented on the men’s and women’s first team with Kendall Sosa the pick on the women’s team and Matthew Leritz for the men.

Shannon Devitt (The College of New Jersey), Kimberly Schuh (Meredith), and Leah Springer (Messiah) join Taylor and Sosa on the women’s first team.

The 15-member women’s squad has a 3.91 average GPA with the first team posting a 3.95. Four women: Taylor, Springer, Emily Hafemann from Concordia-Wisconsin, and Pacific Lutheran’s Emma Janousek recorded 4.0 GPAs. Springer and Janousek’s 4.0s come in graduate programs after earning 3.97 and 3.99 undergrad GPAs, respectively.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
