Meghan McClure, a senior at Stanford University headlines the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division I volleyball team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Monday.
McClure has been named the 2020-21 Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I volleyball.
A native of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., McClure graduated from Stanford with a degree in science, technology & society while carrying a 4.0 GPA. This is the second Academic All-America® honor for McClure after being named to the first team in 2019. As a senior in 2021, McClure was a Top 30 candidate for the Senior CLASS Award and was a preseason All-Pac-12 Conference selection. McClure was a member of two NCAA Championship teams (2018, 2019) and helped lead Stanford to three Pac-12 titles (2017-19). She was a three-time honorable mention All-America from VolleyballMag.com (2017-19), an American Volleyball Coaches Association North Region pick in 2018 and was recognized by the Pac-12 three times with all-conference selections.
Six of the 21 members of the Academic All-America® Division I volleyball team boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The eight members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.86.
Joining McClure as a repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division I volleyball team are
Brynn Carlson (Kansas State University), a third team Academic All-America® honoree in 2019,
Sydney Hilley (University of Wisconsin), who was a firs team Academic All-America® selection in 2019 and
Lauren Swartz (Michigan State University), who was a member of the third team Academic All-America® in 2019.
Seven of the 21 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women’s volleyball teams sport a perfect 4.0 GPA in either undergrad or graduate school. The eight members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.86, with the complete 21-member women’s team averaging a 3.84 GPA.
