AUSTIN, Texas – Senior offensive lineman Steven Sellers of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor leads the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division III football teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Murphy, Texas, Sellers graduated in May as a management and economics double-major with a 4.0 GPA. He anchored the Cru’s offensive line at center and started 31 of the team’s 33 games over the last three seasons. UMHB went 32-1 during that span with three American Southwest Conference (ASC) championships and the 2018 NCAA Division III national title.

Sellers was a three-time Academic All-America® and Academic All-District honoree, and a two-time All-American. At the conference level, Sellers was named the ASC Offensive Lineman of the Year twice and was a three-time All-ASC and Academic All-Conference selection.

The Academic All-America® Division III Football teams have 11 repeat performers, including three three-time honorees Sellers and fellow offensive lineman Dee Gose (Case Western Reserve University).

Nine others were repeat honorees - defensive lineman Lou Duh (Worcester Polytechnic Institute), wide receiver Cody Gustafson (Grove City College), offensive lineman Tyler Howerton (Hampden-Sydney College), defensive back/special teams Will Hurley (Washington University in St. Louis), linebacker Travis Johnston (Case Western Reserve University), linebacker Ben Wong (North Central College) and quarterback Gavin Zimbelman (Aurora University) - from the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams. Two other student-athletes, offensive lineman Ryan Ehrets (Union College) and defensive lineman Jackson Ross (University of Chicago), received the accolade in 2018.

Sixteen of the 51 members of the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division III Football teams have at least a 3.90 GPA, with four student-athletes maintaining a perfect 4.00 GPA. The 25 members of the first team combine for a 3.81 GPA.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
