AUSTIN, Texas – Hunter Dollander of Georgia Gwinnett College highlighted the 2021 Academic All-America® NAIA baseball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.  

Dollander garnered the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year among NAIA Baseball. Dollander, a senior right-handed pitcher from Evans, Georgia, owns a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average studying exercise science. He became a two-time Academic All-American and Academic All-District honoree in addition to earning Daktronics NAIA scholar-athlete and academic all-conference.
 
Dollander spearheaded Georgia Gwinnett to the NAIA national championship. Dollander excelled on the mound for the Grizzlies this spring, posting a 12-1 record with a 3.09 earned-run average in 15 starts. He was named the Most Valuable Player at the Avista NAIA World Series after winning two starts, including the national championship game won 8-4 by Georgia Gwinnett over Central Methodist University June 3 in Lewiston, Idaho. Dollander struck out nine and lasted 105 pitches.
 
The star hurler recorded 99 strikeouts in 87.1 innings and holds program career records with 28 pitching victories, 40 starts, 241.1 innings and 241 strikeouts. Dollander earlier was named honorable-mention NAIA All-American, the Association of Independent Institutions Pitcher of the Year and three-time all-conference.
 
Jacob Bulthuis from Olivet Nazarene University and Nick Little of Concordia (Neb.) University headlined eight repeat honorees on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® squad by taking their third accolade. Those who reeled in their second Academic All-America® nod were Dollander, Kenny Piper from Columbia (Mo.) College, Aaron Saal of Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Jay Denman from Lourdes University, Bryan Leef of the University of the Cumberlands and Luis Mujica from Point Park University.
 
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA baseball team featured five student-athletes working on postgraduate degrees, including Piper and Foster Heise from the University of Saint Francis (Ill.). Heise and Kyran Russ of the University of South Carolina Beaufort boasted of 4.00 GPAs. This group of 22 elite student-athletes produced a 3.779 average GPA.
