AUSTIN, Texas – Senior
Eric Kirby of Rose-Hulman headlines the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® men’s soccer team selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) and announced Wednesday.
Kirby, a computer engineering and computer science major from LaGrange, Kentucky, is one of five repeat Academic All-America ® selections on the 33-member men’s team. A now two-time first team Academic All-America ® honoree, Kirby was named as the HCAC Defensive Player of the Year this season and his 23 career assists is good for No. 3 all-time at Rose-Hulman.
Kirby has a 3.97 GPA.
Justin Howe (Cornell College),
Mitchell Long (Texas Lutheran),
Jasper Yang (Grinnell), and
Charlie Widing (Hobart) join Kirby as repeat honorees for the men. All four men were third team selections in 2019 with Howe, Long, and Yang earning first team honors in 2020-21 and Widing second team accolades.
Long and Widing are also two four men to post perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Nelson Zimmerman (Catholic) and
Gerardo Medina from Concordia University Chicago complete that group.
The 11-member men’s first team has a 3.89 average GPA with the total team posting a 3.85.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
