Bella Shivley of Otterbein Leads the Academic All-America® NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Bella Shivley from Otterbein headlines the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® women’s soccer teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) and announced Wednesday.
  
Shivley, from New Albany, Ohio and a nursing major, earns her second straight Academic All-America ® nod after grabbing second team accolades in 2019. She is one of four women to earn repeat honors in 2020-21.
 
Shivley is a three-time OAC Midfielder of the Year honoree and a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-America selection. This season, she led the Cardinals to their 11th OAC title since 2002 with eight goals and 11 assists for 27 points in 11 games.
 
Shively has a 3.92 GPA.
  
In addition to Shivley, the repeat women’s honorees include Katy Mockett (Washington University in St. Louis), Maya Nielan from MIT, and Katy Kusswurm from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
 
Mockett is a now a three-time Academic All-America ® selection, having earned a third team nod in 2018 and second team in 2019. Nielan repeats her first team honor from 2019 while Kusswurm adds a second straight second team pick.
 
There are seven women: Nielan, Julia Meehan (Wesleyan), Ava Gillikin (MIT), Madison Hatfield (Piedmont), Megan Breidigan (Eastern Mennonite), Angela Davis (Adrian), and Alexzondra Mattson (Ferrum), with 4.0 GPAs.
 
The women’s first team, which has 13 members because of ties, has a 3.94 average GPA. The full women’s squad boasts a 3.91 average GPA.
  
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
