AUSTIN, Texas – Florida Southwestern State College softball player Alyssa O’Donnell headlines the CoSIDA Academic All-America® College Division women's at-large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
O’Donnell was named the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for College Division women’s at-large.
 
The college division includes two-year institutions, Canadian institutions and any United States four-year institutions that are not affiliated with the NCAA or NAIA.
  
O’Donnell, a sophomore pitcher from St. Cloud, Florida, has a 4.00 GPA as a psychology major. O’Donnell was named to the NJCAA All-America first team after posting a 23-1 record in 26 starts, notching a 1.67 earned-run average in 138 2/3 innings pitched.  She recorded 118 strikeouts in 2021 and picked up one save. Her .958 winning percentage this season was second best in the NJCAA Division I ranks while her 1.67 ERA also ranked second among pitchers with more than 20 wins on the year. O'Donnell started nine of the Bucs' 10 postseason games, including all five games at the NJCAA National Tournament, in route to their first national championship in program history.  She finished the postseason an unblemished 5-0 with a 1.76 ERA while squaring off against six teams ranked in the top 15 of the national rankings.  She will play next season at Long Island University. 
 
O’Donnell’s teammate Owen Bowers was the lone repeater from last year’s CoSIDA Academic All-America team. Bowers has a 3.94 GPA as a pre-med major.
