AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Trevor Bassitt of Ashland University headlines the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division II Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
Bassitt is the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Men's Track & Field/Cross Country.
 
The Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division II Academic All-America® teams’ program.
 
Bassitt, who is from Bluffton, Ohio, is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection after being named to the second team in 2019-2020. Bassitt finished with a 3.56 cumulative grade-point average as a sport management major, and a 4.00 GPA in post-graduate work.
 
Bassitt helped the Eagles capture their third consecutive NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field team title in 2021. He claimed national titles in the 60-meter hurdles, 200 dash and 4 x 400 relay this season as he was named the United States Track & Field Coaches Association NCAA Division II Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. He set new Division II records in the 200 and 400 dashes this season. He recorded four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles and was named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Year, Track Athlete of the Meet and High Point Athlete of the Meet.
 
During the outdoor season, Bassitt registered a national title in the 4 x 400 relay as he was named the USTFCCA Midwest Region Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year. Bassitt won four GLIAC titles as he was named the conference’s Track Athlete of the Year, Track Athlete of the Meet and High Point Athlete of the Meet.
  
Nineteen men are repeat performers on this year’s track & field/cross country teams. Eight student-athletes on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Track & Field/Cross Country Teams have a 4.00 undergraduate GPA. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country First Team had an overall 3.83 GPA.
 
Tiffin University’s Cameron Burrows and Pittsburg State University’s Levi Wyrick earned CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Track & Field/Cross Country recognition for the fourth time in their respective careers. Three-time honoreees include Pittsburg State’s Joshua Hudiburg, University of Central Missouri’s Jan Jansky, Queens University of Charlotte’s Martin Knauer, University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ William Ross, Harding University’s Matt Hipshire, and University of Southern Indiana’s Austin Nolan.
