AUSTIN, Texas – Andrew Clifford, a senior swimmer at College of Idaho headlines the Academic All-America® NAIA Men’s At-Large teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.

Clifford was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for the NAIA Men’s At-Large Team.

Clifford and the NAIA women's at-large Academic All-America of the Year Maria Genovese (Georgia Gwinnett) are each the second individuals to earn first-team honors in the at-large category for their respective genders. Both individuals are also the second from their institutions to receive Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year honors. Nine student-athletes from the men's and women's at-large teams are repeat selections from last season while Clifford and Callum Blinkhorn of Lindsey Wilson College are the only three-time selections.

Clifford is a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® selection — the first Yote to accomplish that feat in any sport — from Meridian, Idaho, and is a repeat first-team honoree. The College of Idaho senior is a 14-time NAIA swimming and diving All-American, including seven individual All-America honors and closed his career with six individual school records and five relay school marks.

In addition to his accolades in the pool, Clifford graduated with a 3.96 GPA in chemistry, math and physics. He is one of six honorees with a 3.90 GPA or better. James Spicer of Morningside University was the lone undergraduate with a 4.0 GPA as a computer science major.
