Mikayla Bisignani of Johns Hopkins Leads 2020-21 Academic All-America® NCAA Division III Women's At-Large Team

AUSTIN, Texas – Johns Hopkins University senior swimmer
Mikayla Bisignani headlines the 2020-21 Academic All-America® Division III Women's At-Large Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Academic All-America® Women’s Team Member of the Year, Bisignani is a molecular and cellular biology and psychology double-major with a 3.99 GPA from Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
A three-time Academic All-America® first-team selection, Bisignani was a two-time All-American and a three-time national qualifier in swimming, and was named the 2019 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner. She was also a member of the Johns Hopkins outdoor track and field team, where she was a two-time Centennial Conference Champion in the discus and placed 13th in the event at the 2019 NCAA Championships.
Among the 47 student-athletes selected to the Academic All-America® Division III Women's At-Large teams, eight carry a 4.0 grade-point average. The 15 members of the women’s at-large first team carry an average GPA of 3.90.
Seven women are repeat Academic All-America® selections, including Bisignani and gymnast
Emma Schulz of SUNY Cortland, who are both three-time first-team honorees.
Other women’s student-athletes to repeat as Academic All-America® honorees include: first-teamer
Erin Nicholas (Middlebury, lacrosse and field hockey) repeated her first-team distinction from 2020, and fellow first-teamers
Ellen Gilbert (Illinois Wesleyan, swimming) and
Ally Persky (Washington-St. Louis, tennis) were third-team honorees a year ago; second-teamer
Kyra Bednarski (Stevens, lacrosse) collected her second consecutive second-team honor and second-teamer
Ellen Druebbisch (Lynchburg, tennis) was a third-team selection in 2020.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
