Emily Kearney
AUSTIN, Texas – Graduate student
Emily Kearney of Milligan University headlines the 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA Women's Track & Field/ Cross Country teams as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2020-21 NAIA Academic All-America® teams.
Kearney was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for the NAIA Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Teams.
Kearney, a graduate student with a 4.0 cumulative grade-point average, made the most of her final semester of eligibility as she completed her incredible career with a pair of NAIA national titles in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Wirral, United Kingdom native, won both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races in late May and in the process set new national records in each event.
Emily, who is pursuing a master’s degree in humanities, finished the spring campaign in a Buffalo uniform by being named the Most Outstanding Performer at the NAIA National Championship and was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NAIA Women's Track Athlete of the Year and Appalachian Athletic Conference Runner of the Year.
There are six repeat selections from a year ago as
Rachel Battershell (Concordia (Neb.) University),
Bailey Cossentine (William Jessup University) each garnered first-team selections once again while
Destiny Copeland (Indiana Tech),
Morgan Luedy (Cornerstone University) and
Julia Rohm (Southeastern University) all moved from second team to first.
Three members of the first team posted perfect 4.0 GPAs and together, the 11 honorees averaged a 3.92 GPA.
