AUSTIN, Texas – Four student-athletes garnered accolades for their achievements both on the court and in the classroom – McKenna Melville of UCF, Rylee Hladky from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Heidi Westra of Calvin University and Cambree Scott from Eastern Oregon University – to headline the 2022 Academic All-America® volleyball teams as chosen by College Sports Communicators. 
 
Melville (Division I), Hladky (Division II), Westra (Division III) and Scott (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for their respective collegiate divisions.

UCF’s McKenna Melville entered an exclusive group as a five-time NCAA All-America choice as named by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in addition to becoming a three-time Academic All-America® selection.
 
Melville, an outside hitter from Eagan, Minn., has also collected AVCA Southeast Player of the Year, five-time All-Region, three-time American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and five-time first-team All-AAC First Team in her superb UCF career. She paced the Knights in kills per set (5.51), total kills (573), solo blocks (13) and total points (636.0) while recording 2.59 digs and 0.72 blocks a set this year. For her career, Melville made it into the NCAA top 10 in kills all time and shattered the all-time kills record at UCF with 2,563. Melville boasts of a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average pursuing a post-graduate degree in finance. 
 
The NCAA Division I volleyball Academic All-America® team includes 10 student-athletes who have maintained perfect 4.0 GPAs plus another with a 4.0 GPA in graduate studies among its 21 honorees. The first team put together an average GPA of 3.892. 
Six student-athletes snared repeat honors on the Division I Academic All-America® squad – Melville, Texas Tech’s KJ Adams, Illinois' Diana Brown, Texas’ Logan Eggleston, Pittsburgh’s Serena Gray and Arizona State’s Iman Isanovic, while Eggleston and Melville took their third Academic All-America® accolades.

Rylee Hladky from Metropolitan State University of Denver landed her second first-team AVCA All-America and second Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-America (2nd team 2022, 1st team 2021) nods as well as being a two-time first-team CSC Academic All-America® selection.
 
Hladky’s other honors include two-time D2CCA South Central Region Player of the Year, two-time all-region, two-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year, four-time all-conference, three-time first-team All-RMAC, two-time all-tournament in the South Central Region and most valuable player of the 2022 RMAC Tournament. Hladky, a junior outside hitter from Gillette, Wyoming, finished second in the RMAC in kills per set (3.55) and points per set (4.23) while producing 2.71 digs, 0.51 blocks and 0.40 aces a set. She accumulated 1,249 kills and 1,088 digs to become the seventh player in MSU Denver history with 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. Hladky has compiled a 3.92 cumulative GPA studying mechanical engineering.
 
Among the NCAA Division II Academic All-America® team, eight student-athletes own 4.0 GPAs with two more posting 4.0 GPAs in their graduate studies. The seven members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.975. Five Division II Academic All-America® recipients became two-time honorees – Hladky, Charlotte Richards of Missouri-St. Louis, Eve Stephens of Alaska Anchorage, Sabrina VanDeList of Colorado Mesa and Taylor Vaneekeren of West Florida.

Heidi Westra of Calvin University (Michigan) boasted of the NCAA Division III Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year to go along with her other accolades: two-time first-team AVCA Division III All-American, 2021 Division III Player of the Year, two-time AVCA Great Lakes Region Player of the Year, two-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association MVP and three-time first-team All-MIAA.
 
Westra, an outside hitter/right-side hitter from Clarendon Hills, Illinois, posted 4.68 kills, 3.16 digs, 0.63 blocks, 0.47 aces and 5.48 points a set with a .305 hitting percentage this season. Westra, a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll recipient, compiled a 3.72 GPA studying economics and business marketing.  
 
The NCAA Division III Academic All-America® team included five 4.0 students. The eight student-athletes on the first team compiled a 3.916 average GPA.

Cambree Scott of Eastern Oregon University reeled in her third NAIA All-America nod, a first-team honor, in addition to her second first-team CSC Academic All-America® accolade.
 
Scott, a middle hitter from Bend, Oregon, became a four-time first-team All-Cascade Collegiate Conference performer, all-tournament in the NAIA Championships, three-time AVCA All-NAIA Northwest Region and 2020 CCC Player of the Year. In 2022, Scott topped the NAIA with 1.45 blocks per set and 180 blocks to go with a .255 hitting percentage and 2.25 kills a set. Scott took over as the Mountaineers’ all-time block leader with 710. Scott, a three-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, turned in a 4.00 cumulative GPA as a graduate student working towards a teaching degree.  
 
The NAIA Academic All-America® featured six student-athletes with 4.0 GPAs and five repeat honorees – Scott, Kacy Bragg and Ryan Czerniak from Taylor (Indiana), Ady Dwight of Dakota Wesleyan (South Dakota) and Nicole Reyes of Oregon Tech snagged their second career Academic All-America® honors. The team’s eight first-team recipients own a 3.927 average GPA.
