AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Wednesday the 2021-22 Academic All-America® women’s basketball teams for NCAA Division I-II-III and NAIA, headlined by University of South Carolina’s Aliyah Boston, Audrey Tingle from West Liberty University, Simpson College’s Jenna Taylor, and Grace Beyer of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis.
 
Boston (Division I), Tingle (Division II), Taylor (Division III) and Beyer (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year award winner for their respective divisions.

Aliyah Boston has been named the 2021-22 Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I for the second consecutive season. The junior forward from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, carries a 3.74 GPA while majoring in mass communications. She is the fifth player earn back-to-back Academic All-America® of the Year honors for Division I women’s basketball (previously called the university division). For the year, she is averaging 16.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game for top-seeded South Carolina. She was recently named the National Player of the Year by "The Athletic". Boston was selected as the SEC Player of the Year, is a three-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and a two-time Lisa Leslie Award winner. She is also a three-time SEC First Team selection. Her current streak of 24 consecutive ‘double-doubles’ is the longest active streak in the nation and the longest streak in SEC history.
 
Five of the 16 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women’s basketball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The five members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.87, with the entire Division I team also holding a collective average GPA of 3.87.
 
Seven other student-athletes join Boston as a repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division I team. Vivian Gray of Texas Tech University earns her third Academic All-America® honor after being a first team selection last season and a third team pick the year before. Other repeat selections from 2020-21 include - Conley Chinn (Belmont University), Lexie Hull (Stanford University), Ayoka Lee (Kansas State University), Dariauna Lewis (Alabama A&M University), Myah Selland (South Dakota State University), and Sam Thomas (University of Arizona).

NCAA Division II

A guard from West Lafayette, Ohio, Audrey Tingle has been named the Academic All-America® of the Year for Division II. She carried a 4.0 GPA while pursuing an MBA after earning her bachelor’s degree with a 4.0 GPA in speech pathology and audiology. She is the second women’s basketball player from West Liberty to be named Academic All-America® of the Year, joining Tori Hansen who earned the honor in 2010-11. Tingle set an NCAA Division II season record this season with six triple-doubles. Her 19 ‘double-doubles’ ranked third in the nation. For the year, she averaged 14.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. She is second in Division II in assists and assists per games, and 12th in total rebounds. She is the active career leader in Division II with 856 assists. She was named to the All-Atlantic Region Team First Team by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association. She was also named to the All-Mountain East Conference First Team.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® program.
 
Eight of the 16 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women’s basketball teams sustain an unblemished 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The five members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.98, with the entire Division II team maintaining a collective average GPA of 3.93.
 
Five student-athletes were repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division II team. Sierra Kotchman of Fairmont State University and Denali Pinto of the Colorado School of Mines each earned their third Academic All-America® honor. Pinto has been named to the first team all three years, while Kotchman earned first team honors a season ago and third team honors in 2019-20. Other repeat selections from last year include - Maighan Hedge (Cameron University), Whitney Randall (Fort Hays State University), and Nikki Tucker (Embry-Riddle University (Fla.)).

NCAA Division III

Jenna Taylor earns the Academic All-America® of the Year for Division III for the second year in a row. The forward from Creston, Iowa holds a 3.76 GPA while pursuing a master’s degree in data analytics, after having a perfect 4.0 while earning her undergraduate degree in accounting and economics: finance. She becomes the first player in Division III to earn the honor twice since CoSIDA split the divisions in 2011-12. Previously known as the college division, Taylor becomes just the third player to earn the Academic All-America® of the Year multiple times. Taylor was also a second team selection in 2018-19. She is the reigning two-time American Rivers Conference Most Valuable Player. For the season, Taylor averaged 16.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Her 44.9 three-point shooting percentage ranks third in the nation, while her 57.1 field goal percentage ranks 10th. Last season, she was a top-30 finalist for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.

Four of the 15 members of the Academic All-America® Division III women’s basketball teams claim a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.86, with the entire Division III team retaining a collective average GPA of 3.83.
 
Joining Taylor as repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division III team are Nicole Heffington (John Carroll University), Averi Jordan (DeSales University), Christina Kiser (Bard College), and Leah Springer (Messiah University).

Grace Beyer becomes the first Academic All-America® honoree in school history, enroute to being named the Academic All-America® of the Year for the NAIA. The junior is a native of Eagle, Wisconsin, who maintains a 3.94 GPA as a pharmacy major. Beyer leads the NAIA, averaging 32.9 points per game and scoring 1,019 total points for the year. She also averaged 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Her 358 free throws made and 402 free throws attempted also lead the NAIA. She was named the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Player of the Year. During the regular season, she was twice named the NAIA National Player of the Week and was named the AMC Player of the Week 10 times. On the year, she scored 20 or more points in 30 of 31 games, scored 40 or more points six times, and scored a season-high 57 points in a game.

Four of the 11 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women’s basketball teams maintain an impeccable 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The five members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.97, with the entire NAIA team carrying a collective average GPA of 3.92.
 
The lone repeat selection on the Academic All-America® NAIA team is Jessi Giles (Dakota State (S.D.)). Giles earns her second consecutive first team honor.
