Five talented student-athletes highlight 2021-22 women's at-large Academic All-America® teams; Fischer wins for the second time in Division I

AUSTIN, Texas – Five standouts in competition and in the classroom – Stanford University’s Makenzie Fischer, University of Indianapolis’ Marizel van Jaarsveld, Kenyon College’s Crile Hart, Montreat College’s Stephanie Petit and Monroe College’s Aaliyah Moore – highlight the 2021-22 Academic All-America® women’s at-large teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Fischer (Division I), van Jaarsveld (Division II), Hart (Division III), Petit (NAIA) and Moore (College Division) have each been named the Academic All-America® of the Year award winner for their respective divisions.

Makenzie Fischer was named two-time Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Player of the Year and a two-time Peter J. Cutino Award recipient as the outstanding female collegiate water polo player in the United States. The two-time Academic All-America® First Team selection was named the NCAA Most Valuable Player and an All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first-team selection for the third straight season and fourth overall. Fischer led the Cardinal in goals (83), assists (47), points (130) and shots (167) while producing 23 multi-goal games. Fischer became the Cardinal's all-time leading scorer in a win over USC on Feb. 26 and closed out her career on The Farm with 288 career goals, ranking third all-time in MPSF history. The mechanical engineering graduate student maintained a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in her undergraduate studies and has done the same in her graduate work.

Twenty-two of the 48 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women’s at-large teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 15 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.98, with the entire women’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.92.

Ten student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I women’s at-large teams – Marina Arrese (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Brooke Forde (Stanford University), Sophie Hansson (North Carolina State University), Elli Kluegel (Loyola University Maryland), Morgan Liberto (University of Alabama), Robin Neumann (University of California), Lexy Ramier (University of Minnesota), Megan Skaggs (University of Florida), Ona Loper (University of Minnesota) and Natalie Wojcik (University of Michigan).

The first Greyhound female in Indianapolis swimming and diving program history to win a national title, van Jaarsveld is a four-time NCAA Division II National Champion and a two-time Academic All-America® First Team selection. She is a 14-time Great Lakes Valley Conference champion, 11-time First Team All-GLVC and a 19-time All-American. A three-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American, van Jaarsveld has a 3.87 GPA in psychology.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® program.

Eighteen of 50 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women’s at-large teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 16 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.95, with the entire women’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.87.

Crile Hart earned her first-ever Academic All-America® selection after being named NCAA Division III Swimmer of the Year for the second time after helping lead the Ladies to the 2022 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship and a NCAA Division III National Championship victory. This past season, Hart won six event titles and set four records at the NCAA Division III Championship, bringing her career total to 14. She's also a 28-time CSCAA All-American and a three-time finalist for the Honda Athlete of the Year award. She's a 19-time conference event champion, was twice named NCAC Swimmer of the Year and was voted Kenyon's 2021-22 Senior Athlete of the Year. Hart holds a 3.66 GPA as an anthropology major.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division III Academic All-America® program.

Fifteen of the 45 members of the Academic All-America® Division III women’s at-large teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 16 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.95, with the entire women’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.89.

Stephanie Petit, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, helped lead the Cavaliers to a program-best ranking of No. 3 as well as helping the team to its first-ever semfinal appearance at the NAIA National Championship. A senior from Argentina, Petit tallied a 13-1 regular-season record in singles action at No. 1, while going 12-3 in doubles matches playing in the top pairing. She captained the Cavaliers to their most wins in program history (17) as well as the program's first Appalachian Athletic Conference regular-season championship thanks to a perfect 8-0 league campaign. The two-time AAC Player of the Year has been twice named an All-America first team selection by the NAIA and to the ITA All-America team twice. Petit holds a 4.0 GPA as a business administration major.

The 2022 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Aaliyah Moore has a 4.0 GPA as a business administration major. She won two national championships at the 2022 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, winning the 1,000-meter run and running the anchor leg of the victorious Monroe distance medley relay. Moore reached the podium in both the 1,500-meter run (third place) and the 800-meter run (eighth place) at the 2022 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Back in cross country season, Moore took third place overall out of 160 competitors at the 2021 NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championship, capping off a season that included her winning five straight meets. Moore also had a podium finish at the 2021 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 800-meter (fifth place).

Moore is a six-time USTFCCCA All-American across cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. During the 2021-22 academic year, Moore completed a pair of trifectas. First, she was named the USTFCCCA NJCAA National Athlete of the Week during cross country season, indoor track and field season and outdoor track and field season. Moore secured the third leg of USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Athlete of the Year Awards, being named Cross Country Athlete of the Year, Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Six of the nine members of the Academic All-America® College Division women’s at-large teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The nine members of the women’s team hold a collective average GPA of 3.93.
