AUSTIN, Texas – Four standouts on the diamond and in the classroom – University of South Florida’s Georgina Corrick, Lindenwood (Mo.) University’s Amanda Weyh, Texas Lutheran University’s Kelly Jurden, and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) University’s Mikaeli Davidson – highlight the 2022 Academic All-America® softball teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).


Corrick (Division I), Weyh (Division II), Jurden (Division III) and Davidson (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® of the Year award winner for their respective divisions.

Georgina Corrick is now a three-time Academic All-American after previously earning first team honors in 2020 and third team a year ago. The native of Sanford, Florida, earned her bachelor’s degree in marine biology with a 3.68 cumulative grade-point average and has a 4.00 GPA as a graduate student studying global sustainability. She concluded an outstanding career at South Florida by leading the Bulls to a 45-16 record and a berth in the Tallahassee Regional. She posted a 37-5 record with a miniscule 0.51 earned-run average, striking out 418 and allowing just 114 hits in 274.1 innings.

Corrick completed her USF career with a 113-32 record with a 1.04 ERA and 1,302 strikeouts. Her strikeout total is the 25th most in NCAA history. One of three finalists for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, she is a two-time NFCA All-American and was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, the first time that has happened in the AAC. She holds numerous AAC and USF career and season records, including victories, innings pitched, strikeouts, shutouts, no-hitters and perfect games.

Fourteen of the 37 members of the Academic All-America® Division I softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.88.

Thirteen other student-athletes join Corrick as a repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division I softball team – Renee Abernathy (University of Kentucky), Courtney Coppersmith (UMBC), Charla Echols (University of Florida), Montana Fouts (University of Alabama), Andrea Howard (University of New Mexico), Katie Keller (Northern Illinois University), Grace Lyons (University of Oklahoma), Briana Perez (UCLA), Paige Rauch (Villanova University), Ashley Rogers (University of Tennessee), Mekenzie Saban (Saint Francis University), Kaylee Tow (University of Alabama), and Emily Young (Stanford University). Tow was named a CoSIDA Academic All-America® choice for the fourth time, while Howard joins Corrick as a three-time Academic All-America® selection.

Amanda Weyh is a junior majoring in elementary education and maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA. On the diamond she is a dominant pitcher who led Lindenwood to a 35-13 record and a berth in the Midwest Regional. She hit .293 with two home runs, 23 RBI, and eight stolen bases. However, her true value came in the circle where she was a third team NFCA All-American and an honorable mention D2CCA All-American.
 
The Mokena, Illinois, native recorded the best single-season pitching performance in the team's Division II era, finishing with a 1.00 ERA and .197 batting average against, both of which set new program records. Weyh posted a 22-5 record with 183 strikeouts over 189 innings, completing 20 games and tossing eight shutouts. She was also an NFCA and D2CCA first team All-Region selection, chosen as a pitcher/utility player from D2CCA and pitcher from NFCA. Weyh was a unanimous selection to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference First Team at pitcher. In 2021, she was an NFCA second-team All-Region choice while earning second-team All-GLVC honors.

Thirteen of the 34 members of the Academic All-America® Division II softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.86.

Eight student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division II softball team – Anna Alloway (Tusculum University), Kaileen Cain (Bentley University), Hannah Marsteller (Shippensburg University), Ashley Mickschl (Augustana University), Nicole Purtell (Shepherd University), Ruby Salzman (West Texas A&M University), Ellie Smith (Colorado Mesa University) and Brylynn Vallejos (San Francisco State University). Alloway is now a three-time Academic All-America® honoree.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-22 Division II Academic All-America® program.

Kelly Jurden is now a rare four-time Academic All-America® honoree, earning first team honors in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and second team in 2019. The graduate student is a mathematics and data analytics major with a 3.97 GPA. She enjoyed an illustrious career at Texas Lutheran, helping the Bulldogs to three consecutive trips to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship . They recently reached the semifinals before being eliminated to end the year with a 45-6 record, the most wins in program history. Texas Lutheran won its eighth straight Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championship.
 
An outfielder from Brenham, Texas, Jurden earned NFCA All-American honors for the third time after being named to the second team this year. A first team All-SCAC selection and Top 25 Finalist for NFCA/Schutt Sports Division-III Player of the Year, she set the NCAA season record for stolen bases with 77 this year and also holds the career record with 246. She holds Texas Lutheran career records for at-bats (621), runs scored (234), hits (260), and walks (106), as well. She finished the season with a .379 batting average, leading the Bulldogs with 54 runs while hitting 10 doubles and driving in 24 runs.
 
Seventeen of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® Division III softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 13 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.92.
 
In addition to Jurden, three additional student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division III softball team – Kelsey Bollon (Concordia University Wisconsin), Cami Henry (DePauw University), and Abby Mace (Salisbury University).

Mikaeli Davidson helped Embry-Riddle to the best season in team history as the Eagles reached the NAIA National Tournament before being eliminated in the Southern Oregon Bracket. They ended the year with a 41-5 record and entered the tournament ranked 24th. Embry-Riddle set a program record for wins and won its first-ever Cal Pac conference championship.
 
A Global Security & Intelligence major with a 3.97 GPA, the senior starred both at the plate and in the circle. Davidson was named the Cal Pac Player of the Year. The native of Tempe, Arizona,  hit a team-best .414 and also had a team-high 29 RBI. She had a conference-best six triples, plus two doubles and four home runs. In the circle, she was 17-3 with a 1.27 ERA and 134 strikeouts. In 121.2 innings, she allowed just 91 hots and 24 walks.
 
One of the 23 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.84.
 
Six student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® NAIA softball team – Lexi Dickerson (Columbia (Mo.) College), Alexa Good (Georgia Gwinnett College), Kennedy Jackson (Oklahoma City University), Kylee Matern (Mount Vernon Nazarene University), Sydney Pelaez (Georgia Gwinnett College) and Lexie Stolen (Morningside University). Dickerson and Jackson are now three-time Academic All-America® honorees.
