AUSTIN, Texas – Four standouts on the court and in the classroom – University of North Florida’s Kit Gulihur, Newberry College’s Nastassia Chamoun, Case Western Reserve University’s Hannah Kassaie and Georgia Gwinnett College’s Tereza Koplova – highlight the inaugural 2022-23 Academic All- America® women’s tennis teams selected by the College Sports Communicators announced today.
 
Gulihur (Division I), Chamoun (Division II), Kassaie (Division III) and Koplova (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for their respective divisions.
 
Women’s tennis had previously been a part of the men’s at-large team until the 2022-23 season.

Kit Gulihur, a graduate student from Camp Pendelton, California, is a two-time NCAA Elite 90 award winner for Division I women’s tennis and became the first University of North Florida athlete to earn the award. She has a 4.0 GPA toward her master’s degree in International Affairs and makes her second appearance on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® team.
 
Gulihur is a two-time NCAA Championships qualifier, taking a 22-match winning streak into the 2023 national tournament. She finished the season with a 28-7 record including a 22-match winning streak, and had an 18-3 doubles record. Playing at one single and doubles this season, Gulihur rolled to 46 combined wins. The dominant doubles and singles player is a two-time Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year, three-time ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, ASUN Tournament MVP and ASUN Pair of the Year winner.
 
Nine of the 18 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.95.
 
Three student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I women’s tennis team (NOTE: Tennis has been part of the At-Large program) – Duke University’s Chloe Beck and University of Virginia’s Natasha Subhash join UNF’s Gulihur.

Nastassia Chamoun, a senior from Reunion Island, France, compiled a 4.0 GPA graduating with a business degree earlier in May. She dominated her competition all season long, posting a 20-1 singles record including a 10-1 ledger in conference play and a perfect 19-0 doubles record to earn South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year honors and lead the Newberry to the conference semifinals.
 
Eleven of the 19 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The seven members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.95.
 
Slippery Rock University’s Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez is the lone repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division II women’s tennis team (NOTE: Tennis has been part of the At-Large program).
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance
structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II
Academic All-America® program.

Hannah Kassaie, a sophomore from Cleveland, Ohio, earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles play for Case Western Reserve University at the 2023 NCAA Division III Individual Championships, including a program record-setting run in the singles bracket advancing to the quarterfinals. She has a 4.0 GPA majoring in nutrition. Collectively, the Spartans also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championships. The NCAA Elite 90 winner for Division III women’s tennis, she won 21 of her 24 singles matches and had a 21-6 record at No. 1 doubles with teammate and fellow CSC Academic All-America® selection Lily McCloskey during the season.
 
Seven of the 18 members of the Academic All-America® Division III women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.938.
 
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance

Tereza Koplova, who compiled a 3.71 GPA majoring in psychology, was a three-time first team NAIA All-American for Georgia Gwinnett College and also earned honorable mention honors as a freshman. She notched the match-clinching point against Keiser University (Florida) in the 2023 NAIA Women’s Tennis national championship match. It was the fourth national championship for the Grizzlies since 2019, and the program’s eighth overall. The senior from Velky Orechov, Czech Republic, put together a career record of 53-5 in singles and 44-13 in doubles for Georgia Gwinnett.
 
Two of the 13 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work, with five at 3.90 or better. The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.83.
 
Ava Maria University’s Lara Teodoro is the lone repeat selection on the Academic All-America® Division II women’s tennis team (NOTE: Tennis has been part of the At-Large program).
 
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
