Four talented student-athletes highlight 2022-23 women's track & field/cross country Academic All-America® teams; Baker repeats as Team Member of the Year for NCAA Division II

AUSTIN, Texas – Four standouts in competition and in the classroom – University of Florida’s Talitha Diggs, Colorado School of Mines’ Zoe Baker, University of Mount Union’s Kenadee Wayt and Concordia (Neb.) University’s Rachel Battershell – highlight the 2022-23 Academic All-America® women’s track & field/cross country teams selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and announced today.
 
Diggs (Division I), Baker (Division II), Wayt (Division III) and Battershell (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year award winner for their respective divisions.

A junior from Saucon Valley, Pennsylvania, Talitha Diggs was a four-time NCAA All-American in 2023 and was named Academic All-America® for the first time in her career. A political science and international studies major with a 3.67 GPA, Diggs earned All-America honors in the 400m and 4x400m relay at the NCAA Indoor Championships and 200m and 400m honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She also claimed the SEC Indoor Championship in the 400m.
 
Diggs was also named the SEC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA Indoor South Region Women’s Runner of the year and SEC Indoor Women’s Runner of the Year.
 
Nineteen of the 45 members of the Academic All-America® Division I women’s track & field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 15 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.83, with the entire women’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.86.
 
Four student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I women’s track and field/cross country team highlighted by Cailie Logue (Iowa State University) who is a four-time honoree. She was joined by three other repeat selections: Lucy Corbett (Montana State University), Calli Doan (Liberty University) and Sarah Hendrick (Kennesaw State).

Zoe Baker is a four-time Academic All-America® honoree with her third consecutive first team selection and second straight Academic All-America® of the Year selection. In the competitive arena, the senior is a 13-time All-American counting honors in cross country, the indoor 5,000m and the outdoor 5,000m and 10,000m this year.
 
A graduate student from Longmont, Colorado, Baker posted a 4.0 GPA as a computer science major. She is a three-time NCAA Elite 90 winner and eight-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Runner of the Year cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field each of the past two academic years.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® program.
 
Twenty-one of the 49 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women’s track and field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 15 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.91, with the entire women’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.91.

An eight-time NCAA All-American and three-time national champion in 2023, Kenadee Wayt earned her first Academic All-America® honor as the senior also posted a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. The senior from Wheeling, West Virginia earned claimed the indoor 200m and outdoor 200m and 400m titles at the NCAA Division III Championships. She also earned All-American honors in the indoor 60m, 400m and 4x400m relay as well as the outdoor 4x100m and 4x400m relay.
 
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist the CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Division III Academic All-America® program.

Rachel Battershell claims her first Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year honor and her fourth consecutive first team Academic All-America® honor in track & field/cross country. The senior sprinter from Wheatland, Wyoming holds a 3.99 GPA as a biology, chemistry and exercise science major.
 
Battershell was a three-time NAIA All-American in 2023 and a five-time Great Plains Athletic Conference champion. She earned All-American honors in the indoor 4x400m relay and the outdoor 400m, 4x400m relay. She earned GPAC titles in the indoor 400m and 4x400m relay as well as the outdoor 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m relays. She is the second straight Bulldog to earn the top Academic All-America® honor as Josie Puelz earned the honor last season.
 
The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
 
Twelve of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women’s track and field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work. The 10 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.96, with the entire women’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.90.
 
Six student-athletes join Battershell as repeat selections on the Academic All-America® NAIA women’s track and field/cross country team: Mika Kooistra (Dordt University), Erin Mapson (Concordia (Neb.)
