"These outstanding individuals have extended the excellence they displayed in competition and in the classroom during college into outstanding lives of service to others. We look forward to celebrating with and honoring them at our convention in June."
Created in 1988, the Academic All-America Hall of Fame recognizes former Academic All-Americans who received a college degree at least 10 years ago, have achieved lifetime success in their professional careers, and are committed to philanthropic causes. Honorees are chosen each year by a select committee of CSC members, leaders and past Academic All-America Hall of Fame inductees.
"We are thrilled to induct these four remarkable individuals as the Academic All-America Hall of Fame Class of 2024," said CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame Committee Chair and UIC Senior Associate AD for External Operations Chris Masters. "Each of them is a shining example of what makes the Academic All-America program special — excellence in the classroom, greatness in competition and a truly generous and giving spirit in the community. Our committee is proud to welcome this year's Academic All-America Hall of Fame class and we invite all CSC members to join us for this year's enshrinement ceremony during #CSCUnite24 in Las Vegas!"
The four inductees into the CSC Academic All-America Hall of Fame will be honored during the All-Star Night of Honors presented by ESPN on June 10, 2024, in conjunction with the #CSCUNITE24 annual convention at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. ESPN reporter and 2019 Jake Wade Award winner Holly Rowe will host the event. Those without a #CSCUnite24 convention badge may purchase tickets to the event at

Harter was a two-sport athlete in football and wrestling at the University of Mount Union (formerly Mount Union College when he competed) from 1980-1983. As an offensive lineman on the football team, Harter started on varsity in the second game of his freshman year and never missed a game after. Among his accolades include being a two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) lineman as well as team MVP his senior year. In 1983, Harter was awarded the Ohio Athletic Conference's Ken Wable Award for being the top offensive lineman along with being voted to the Associated Press Little All-America 2nd team.

After struggling with dyslexia and the hardships that came with it, Harter was challenged by his professors and coaches to match his enormous effort in athletics to his studies in the classroom and he took that challenge to heart.
In 1984, Harter was named a National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. The business and accounting major went on to make the Dean's List in each semester during his final two years at Mount Union.
After graduating in 1984, Harter pursued a career in business and has assisted in founding over 25 companies in his lifetime with a primary focus in industry-shifting technologies. He has shown support for helping middle school students in need by donating thousands of bicycles to Changing Young Children's Lives through Education (CYCLE). Harter and his colleagues at NVC also started the Adopt a Middle School program dedicated to helping struggling middle schools in Houston turn their programs around by providing mentorship, opportunities and resources.
