GREENWOOD, Indiana – Four standouts headline a group of outstanding student-athletes named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America® men’s basketball teams selected by College Sports Communicators.
 
St. John’s University guard/forward RJ Luis, Jr., Carson-Newman University guard Jack Browder, Anderson University wing Tate Ivanyo and College of Idaho Drew Wyman were named as the Academic All-America® Team Members of the Year for NCAA Divisions I, II and III, and NAIA, respectively.
 

NCAA Division I

After helping St. John’s to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and the BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championship, RJ Luis Jr. has been named to four major All-America lists to honor his accomplishments during the 2024-25 season (AP second team, NABC second team, Sporting News third team and USBWA second team).
 
Luis, St. John’s first BIG EAST Player of the Year honoree since 1986, averaged 18.2 points per game and helped the Johnnies to a 31-5 record by averaging 31.8 minutes of action per game. The native of Miami, Florida, netted 14 20-point performances in 35 games played. He ranked first in the BIG EAST with 10 double-doubles and averaged 7.2 rebounds per game.
 
Two members of the Academic All-America® Division I men’s basketball teams boast a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in their undergraduate or graduate work. The five members on the first team have an average undergraduate GPA of 3.78, with all three teams held a collective average undergraduate GPA of 3.84.
 
Four student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I men’s basketball teams: Tyson Degenhart (Boise State University), Gibson Jimerson (Saint Louis University), Tamin Lipsey (Iowa State University) and Stevie Mitchell (Marquette University).

NCAA Division II

A two-time South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year award winner, Jack Browder led Carson-Newman during the 2024-25 season by averaging 19.7 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per contest. He recorded 30 double-digit scoring efforts, including 15 games where the native of Kingsport, Tennessee, surpassed the 20-point mark.
 
Browder is now a two-time member of the Academic All-America® men’s basketball first team and was awarded the SAC Elite 23 Award. The junior turned in back-to-back 30-point games this season and is the first Eagle this century to score 30 points in three-straight games. He led the conference with 14 double-double games this season, setting a new school record, and was the only player in the South Atlantic Conference in the top four in scoring and rebounding.
 
Three members of the Academic All-America® Division II men’s basketball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate or graduate work. The five members on the first team have an average undergraduate GPA of 3.82, with all three teams holding a collective average undergraduate GPA of 3.81.
 
Browder was joined as repeat selections to the Academic All-America® Division II men’s basketball teams by two other players: Alex Steen (Florida Southern College) and John Zhao (Carson-Newman).
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.

NCAA Division III

The Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year award caps off a star-studded season for Tate Ivanyo during his first season at Anderson, including consensus All-America honors. The NABC District 8 Player of the Year averaged 20.5 points per game, allowing him to finish his career ranked third in school history with 1,755 career points scored. He also set the school record with 255 career three pointers after shooting 39.5 percent (81-of-205) from behind the arc during the 2024-25 season.
 
The native of Valparaiso, Indiana, is a finalist for the 2025 Josten Trophy Award, honoring the most outstanding men’s and women’s Division III basketball player in the country. Ivanyo has been selected to play in the NABC NCAA Division III All-Star game, which features 20 of the most prominent men's basketball seniors in NCAA Division III basketball.
 
Six honorees on the Academic All-America® Division III men’s basketball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The five-man first team has an average undergraduate GPA of 3.92, with the entire 15-man team combining for a collective 3.82 undergraduate GPA.
 
Joining Ivanyo, who is now a three-time Academic All-America® honoree, as repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division III men’s basketball teams are: Adam Brazil (Hampden-Sydney College), Ryan Broeckel (Wisconsin Lutheran College) and Ryan Thissen (Saint John’s University – Minn.).

NAIA

Drew Wyman earned his third career All-America honor during the 2024-25 season en route to helping College of Idaho to its second NAIA national championship in the last three years and third in program history. Wyman is the program’s all-time career leader in starts (143-of-145 career games) and started every game in both of the Yotes' national championship seasons.
 
The native of Great Falls, Montana, averaged 11.8 points per game during the last four seasons, scoring 1,708 career points during a storied career at College of Idaho. He shot over 50 percent from the field during his final two years at the college, including a 53.4 clip as a senior (173-of-324).
 
Four of the 11-member Academic All-America® NAIA men’s basketball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate or graduate work. The five-man first team has an average undergraduate GPA of 3.91, with the entire 11-man team combining for a collective 3.74 undergraduate GPA.
 
Wyman, who is now a three-time Academic All-America® honoree, is joined on the team as repeat selections to the Academic All-America® NAIA men’s basketball teams by: Aitor Anabitarte (University of St. Francis (Ill.)), Gabe Newhof (Spring Arbor University) and Collin Parker (Columbia College).
