Four talented student-athletes headline 2024-25 Academic All-America women's tennis teams; Zhou repeats as DIII Academic All-American of the Year

AUSTIN, Texas – Four standouts on the court and in the classroom - University of North Carolina’s Reese Brantmeier, Southern Arkansas University’s Amelie Gindl, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges’ Angie Zhou and Loyola University New Orleans’ Lucy Carpenter - highlight the 2024-25 Academic All-American women’s tennis team selected by College Sports Communicators, announced today.
 
Brantmeier (Division I), Gindl (Division II), Zhou (Division III), and Carpenter (NAIA) have each been named Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for their respective divisions.
 

NCAA Division I

Reese Brantmeier, a junior from Whitewater, Wisconsin, has a 3.95 GPA, majoring in Exercise Science and Studio Art. She was the recipient of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis NCAA Elite 90 award and was the ACC’s Women’s Tennis Player of the Year. Brantmeier, ranked No. 7 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in singles, wrapped up an All-America season with an 18-2 mark at the No. 1 position for the Tar Heels. She went 24-5 in doubles during the spring, finishing the season at No. 2 nationally with Alanis Hamilton to earn her second All-America accolade from the ITA.
 
Brantmeier was the match-clinching point for the Tar Heels in April as they won their second consecutive ACC title. In 2024, she saw her season cut short due to injury, but earned ITA All-America honors, achieving a No. 9 ranking in singles with a 20-3 record and a 23-2 record in doubles action, where she was ranked No. 5 alongside Elizabeth Scotty. As a true freshman in 2023, Brantmeier ended the regular season ranked No. 9 in both singles and doubles, claiming ITA All-America honors
 
The University of Kentucky’s Zoe Hammond is the lone member of the Academic All-America® NCAA Division I women’s tennis team to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA in her undergraduate work. The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.76.
 
Six student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I women’s tennis team – Stanford University’s Connie Ma, UCLA’s Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer, University of Miami’s Alexa Noel, University of South Carolina’s Sarah Hamner, Texas A&M-University’s Mary Stoiana, and University of Georgia’s Dasha Vidmanova. Connie Ma was the 2023-24 Division I Women’s Tennis Team Member of the Year, while Hamner is a three-time selection.

NCAA Division II

Amelie Gindl, a sophomore from Mönchhof, Austria, has a perfect 4.00 GPA, majoring in Strength and Conditioning. She was named the Great American Conference’s (GAC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Year after going undefeated against league foes during the regular season. She guided the Muleriders to their first tournament title since 2019.  Gindl finished the regular season No. 4 in the ITA singles ranking and, in the fall of 2024, she was the first Southern Arkansas Women’s Tennis student-athlete to participate in the ITA Cup and is the first in program history to claim an ITA Central Region title.
 
As a true freshman, Gindl impressed with 15 wins in the spring season to earn the ITA’s Central Region Rookie of the Year accolade. She helped guide the Muleriders to a 2024 GAC Regular Season title while claiming a pair of league Player of the Week honors.
 
Six of the 18 members of the Academic All-America® Division II women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school.  The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.85.
 
There are five repeat selections - Tiffin University’s Emily Barrett, Lynn University’s Salma Djoubri, Point Loma Nazarene University’s Alina Kupfer, Adelphi University’s Katarina Liedbeck and Wayne State University’s Anais Ruyssen -- on the Academic All-America® Division II women’s tennis team. Barrett and Ruyssen are three-time selections. Ruyssen was the 2023-24 Division II Women’s Tennis Team Member of the Year.
 
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.

NCAA Division III

Angie Zhou, a senior from Ann Arbor, Michigan, maintains a 3.91 GPA majoring in computer science. The three-time Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Player of the Year claimed her second consecutive CSC Academic All-America® Division III Team Member of the Year award. She guided Pomona-Pitzer Colleges to the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament Championship and advanced to the Division III doubles semifinals. Zhou went unbeaten in singles during conference play and earned All-America honors for the third time in singles, finishing the regular season ranked No. 4 with 16 wins.
 
Zhou led Pomona-Pitzer Colleges to the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals and advanced to the second round of the Division III singles competition this season. She was the 2023 NCAA Division III Singles Champion to earn All-America honors for the second time en route to the Division III Tennis Honda Athlete of the Year award. As a freshman in 2022, Zhou was the NCAA Division III Singles runner-up, ITA Rookie of the Year, and All-SCIAC honors.
 
Five of the 18 members of the Academic All-America® Division III women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.94.
 
Including Zhou there are six repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division III women’s tennis team -- Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ Alisha Chulani and Lindsay Eisenman, Case Western Reserve University’s Lily McCloskey, Middlebury College’s Sahana Raman, and Carnegie Mellon University’s Sarah Yang. McCloskey is a three-time selection.

NAIA

Lucy Carpenter, a graduate student from Croton-On-Hudson, New York, maintains a 3.90 GPA in Business Administration. She was a five-time Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) First Team selection and guided Loyola New Orleans to its first SSAC Women’s Tennis Championship and a program record 17 match victories. Carpenter earned her fifth NAIA All-America honor and headlined a Wolf Pack squad that reached the National Quarterfinal match for the second consecutive year. She finished the 2025 season ranked No. 4 in singles and No. 6 in doubles, winning 36 matches for Loyola New Orleans. 
 
In the fall of 2024, Carpenter qualified for the ITA Cup for the fourth time and reached the quarterfinals. She finished her career with 11 SSAC Player of the Week awards, the most for any Wolf Pack student-athlete in school history. A two-time SSAC Player of the Year, she's played every singles match at the No. 1 position since her freshman year, compiling a 68-31 singles record and an 80-25 overall record in doubles.
 
Carpenter is joined by University of the Cumberlands’ Marina Nagai, and Keiser University’s Vanja Vidanovic as repeat selections on the Academic All-America® NAIA women’s tennis team. Vidanovic is a three-time selection.
 
Two of the 12 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA women’s tennis teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school.   The six members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.81.
