AUSTIN, Texas – Four standouts in the field and in the classroom headline a group of outstanding student-athletes named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America® men’s track & field/cross country teams selected by College Sports Communicators.
 
Duke University’s Simen Guttormsen, Colorado School of Mines’ Loic Scomparin, John Carroll University’s Basheer Alramahi and University of the Cumberlands’ Luca Madeo were named as the Academic All-America® Team Members of the Year for NCAA Divisions I, II and III, and NAIA, respectively.
 

NCAA Division I

The Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year award caps off a star-studded season for Simen Guttormsen during his final season at Duke, including winning the NCAA Division I men’s pole vaulting title at the indoor national championship. Guttormsen’s mark of 5.71m (18-8.75 feet) allowed him to become the second Duke men’s track & field athlete in program history to win a title at the NCAA Indoor National Championship.
 
The 2025 ACC Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Year and Bowerman Watch List member would earn his second All-America honor of the year after a fifth-place finish in the pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor National Championship. The native of Ski, Norway, currently holds a 3.88 GPA as a graduate student with a focus in economics and computation.
 
Twelve members of the Academic All-America® Division I men’s track & field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in their undergraduate or graduate work. The 15 members on the first team have an average undergraduate GPA of 3.85, with all three teams held a collective average undergraduate GPA of 3.81.

NCAA Division II

Loic Scomparin’s standout season for the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers included setting an NCAA record and a pair of runner-up finishes at the NCAA Indoor Track Championship. The native of Dublin, Calif., was the silver medalist at the 2025 indoor national championship where he finished second in the 3,000 meters (7:48.67) and 5,000 meters (13:36.69), while breaking the NCAA Division II record with a time of 7:43.96 at the Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
 
During the outdoor season, Scomparin earned USTFCCCA Second-Team All-America honors after a 10th-place finish in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship. He graduated in May 2025 with a master’s degree in advanced energy systems and hydrology with a 3.85 GPA, helping him be selected his graduating classes' Presidential Senior Scholar-Athlete for combination of academic and athletic achievement.
 
Seventeen members of the Academic All-America® Division II men’s track & field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate or graduate work. The 15 members on the first team have an average undergraduate GPA of 3.90, with all three teams holding a collective average undergraduate GPA of 3.85.

NCAA Division III

Basheer Alramahi, the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships, added four additional All-America honors to his stellar three-year career at John Carroll University, giving the junior 13 All-America accolades during his standout career. He currently holds a perfect 4.00 GPA as a biology major.
 
During the indoor season, Alramahi broke the NCAA Division III national record in the 500 meters (1:02.64) at the 2025 OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and was an All-American in the 400 meters (47.42) after a runner-up finish at the national championship. During the outdoor season, the native of Westlake, Ohio, was part of a seventh-place 4x400 meter relay squad (3:11.91) at nationals and finished in third place in the 400 meters (46.80).
 
Eleven honorees on the Academic All-America® Division III men’s track & field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 16-man first team has an average undergraduate GPA of 3.92, with the entire 46-man team combining for a collective 3.84 undergraduate GPA.

NAIA

Luca Madeo was a two-time national champion during the 2024-25 athletics season, winning a title at both the indoor and outdoor national championships events. At the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, he claimed the national title in the 10,000 meters (30:12.05), leading the lengthy event by almost 150 meters during the final four laps of the race.
 
After winning the national title in the 5,000 meters (14:06.19) at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, the sophomore helped Cumberlands win the 2025 USTFCCCA Jack Hazen NAIA Men's Program of the Year for the second year in a row. The native of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany currently holds a 3.97 GPA as an exercise sport science major.
 
Four of the 20-member Academic All-America® NAIA men’s track & field/cross country teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate or graduate work. The 11-man first team has an average undergraduate GPA of 3.84, with the entire 20-man team combining for a collective 3.85 undergraduate GPA.
