Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Release (NCAA, NAIA Divisions): PDF | doc
GREENWOOD, Indiana – Four standouts in competition and in the classroom – the University of Alabama’s
Doris Lemngole, West Texas A&M University’s
Blessing Akintoye, Augustana (Ill.) College’s
Charlotte Frere and Taylor University’s
Jaynie Halterman – highlight the 2025-26 Academic All-America® women’s track and field/cross country teams selected by College Sports Communicators.
Lemngole (Division I), Akintoye (Division II), Frere (Division III) and Halterman (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year award winner for their respective divisions. Lemngole is honored for the second consecutive season, while the remaining trio receives this honor for the first time in their respective careers.
NCAA Division I
A junior from West Pokot County, Kenya,
Doris Lemngole was named the Southeastern Conference’s outdoor track and field runner of the year this spring. She won the SEC Commissioner’s Trophy after accumulating the most individual points (20) at the league’s outdoor championships. In the classroom, Lemngole holds a 4.00 GPA with her sport management major.
Lemngole swept the steeplechase and the 5000 meters SEC titles for the second straight year. She became the first student-athlete in SEC history to win the steeplechase crown in three consecutive seasons, posting a then-world-leading 9:18.66 to set both the meet and facility records.
Lemngole won three national championships during the 2024-25 academic year: cross country in the fall, the indoor 5000 meters in the winter and the outdoor steeplechase in the spring. She was undefeated in her events during the 2025 outdoor season.
The 15 Academic All-America® Division I women’s track and field/cross country first team members have an undergraduate GPA of 3.85. The entire 45-member team has an undergraduate GPA of 3.84. Eight team members sport a perfect 4.00 GPA, either as an undergrad or a graduate student.
Fourteen student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I women’s track and field/cross country teams with 10 veterans finding a spot on the first team. Leading the way is Nebraska graduate student
Axelina Johansson, who earns Academic All-America® laurels for the fourth time in her career. A three-time first team member, Johansson earned second team honors following her sophomore season in 2022-23.
In addition to Lemngole and Johansson, the other eight first team repeat selections include
Ida Breigan (UTSA),
Lexi Evans (Cal Poly),
Jenna Fee Feyerabend (San Diego State),
India Jones (Air Force),
Amanda Moll (Washington),
Hana Moll (Washington),
Wilma Nielsen (Oregon) and
Vera Sjoberg (North Carolina). Feyerabend joins Lemngole with her perfect 4.00 GPA.
Five second team Academic All-America® picks are repeat performers, led by three-time choice
Rachel Joseph. An Iowa State senior, Joseph is a back-to-back second team selection after making the third team in 2023-24. Joining Joseph as second team veterans are
Victoria Cameron (Tarleton State),
Jenna Hutchins (BYU),
Makayla Paige (North Carolina) and
Elisabet Runarsdottir (Texas State). Hutchins and Paige made the second team last year, while Cameron was a third team honoree. Runarsdottir was named to the second team in 2023-24.

A senior from Preemption, Illinois,
Charlotte Frere is a three-time Academic All-America® first team selection. Earlier this month, she was selected as the 2025-26 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Year. Frere graduated with a 3.96 GPA as a biology and kinesiology major.
An NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, Frere closed her Augustana career as three-time NCAA Division III national champion in the discus. She won outdoor national titles in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Frere is the first Augustana student-athlete to win three straight individual track and field national titles.
As a senior, Frere recorded the furthest discus throw (56.59 meters) in NCAA Division III history. For her efforts, she was named the USTFCCCA national Field Athlete of the Year in 2026.
