AUSTIN, Texas – Two repeat selections headline the 2017-18 Academic All-America® Division III Women’s Basketball teams in selections announced Wednesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Averett University’s
Samm Chandler, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-America® honoree leads this duo with her selection as the 2018 CoSIDA Academic All-America® of the Year for Division III women’s basketball.
Joining Chandler as a repeat honoree is
Mikaela Eppard from Elmhurst, a two-time first team selection.
Chandler, a Burnsville, N.C., native, has a 3.97 GPA as a biomedical science/wellness & sports medicine major. She is a four-time All-USA South Conference honoree, earning first team accolades the past three seasons, and is the eighth woman in program history to score at least 1000 career points. She finished her career with 1,694 and 810 rebounds after starting all 106 games she played in.
The 15-woman CoSIDA Academic All-America® women’s team has an average GPA of 3.95 with the first team matching that mark. Six of the 15 women have perfect 4.0 GPAs.
The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division III Academic All-America® teams program.
