AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Nikolas Angyal of the University of Rochester headlines the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III Men’s soccer teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Tuesday.
The Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America® teams.
Angyal, a chemical engineering major at the University of Rochester, earns Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year honors for men’s soccer after being named as a second team Academic All-America® last season. He was named the NCAA Elite 90 Award winner at the Division III men’s soccer national championship this season.
Both Angyal and wmen's NCAA Division III Academic All-America® of the year selection Kenne Kessler boast perfect 4.0 GPAs. The duo are two of 26 on the 67-member teams with at least a 4.0 GPA and two of 20 repeat honorees. Thirteen of the 20 repeat selections are women, as are 16 of the 26 honorees at 4.0 or better.
Angyal, from Stormville, New York, earned honorable mention All-UAA accolades this season after helping the Yellowjackets to a 16-3-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III semi-finals. He has six assists in 2018.
The first team men’s squad has a 3.96 average GPA with the complete men’s team recording a 3.88 GPA.
Jack McCambridge (Carnegie Mellon); Cole Rosenberger (Johns Hopkins); Ian Schomer (Maryville (Tenn.)); Brad Deckel (Springfield); Jacob Witte (Calvin) and Danny Ruple (Baldwin-Wallace) join Angyal as repeat men’s selections.
