AUSTIN, Texas – UMBC graduate student forward Joe Sherburne headlines the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Men’s basketball teams selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Monday.
Sherburne has been named the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for Division I men’s basketball.
A native of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Sherburne is pursuing a graduate degree in data science after receiving his undergraduate degree in financial economics. He becomes a two-time first team Google Cloud Academic All-America selection after also earning the honor in 2017-18. Sherburne carries a 4.0 in his graduate course work after also earning a 4.0 as an undergrad. Sherburne leads the Retrievers averaging 14.3 points a game, and is second on the team with 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
Four of the 15 members of the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Men’s Basketball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. The five members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.99, with the entire men’s team holding a collective average GPA of 3.88
Five others join Sherburne as repeat selections on Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Men’s Basketball teams from 2017-18 – Dylan Windler (Belmont University), Luke Maye (University of North Carolina), Marcus Bartley (Southern Illinois University), Skylar Mays (Louisiana State University), and Tyler Seibring (Elon University). Additionally, Seibring was named to the 2016-17 Google Cloud Academic All-America® team.
